Kubly takes home ASIC achievement award

Bill Kubly, founder of Landscapes Unlimited, Inc., was awarded the American Society of Irrigation Consultants’ 2009 Roy Williams Memorial Award at this year’s annual conference in St. Augustine, FL.

Kubly, a University of Wisconsin Landscape Architecture graduate, has more than 30 years experience in the golf course construction and recreational development industries. His dedication to the water delivery side of the business on more than 800 development, construction and renovation projects is a testament to the impact of detailed irrigation design and management practices.

“Bill Kubly has remained focused on irrigation as a major component of his work and success throughout his career,” remarks Norman Bartlett, ASIC executive director. “Long before water conservation and landscape sustainability were issues in the public and policy arenas, Kubly was demonstrating the benefits of both on his projects. He’s a man with both entrepreneurial vision and solid performance standards.”

Named after an ASIC founder and one of the original independent irrigation consultants some 40 years ago, the Roy Williams award is given for significant contributions to the irrigation industry by an individual, organization or business.

Formerly the ASIC Industry Achievement Award, the Roy Williams Award was renamed after the Society’s founder and first president in 1988. Recent past winners include:

Dr. James Watson
Irvine Ranch Water District
Ed Norum with the Center for Irrigation Technology
The LaFetra Family
Walt Disney Imagineering

The Roy Williams Award is not an annual accolade. It is given to an individual or organization as the Society deems appropriate. Any member of the Society may submit nominations in industry areas that include irrigation design and application, water conservation, research, academia, manufacturing, and all related fields. ASIC members and non-members alike are eligible for the Roy Williams Award.
