Landscape Management Services (LMS), a full-service grounds maintenance company that serves commercial, industrial and multi-residential properties, received a certificate of recognition from the Alameda County Water District (ACWD) for its involvement in a drought-friendly landscaping project at Crossroads Technology Park, a 325,000 square feet, four-building property on approximately 25 acres in Union City, CA. Woodstock Development of Burlingame and Nearon Enterprises of Walnut Creek own the project. Woodstock manages the project which is the headquarters location for Abaxis, Inc and Ariat International, and includes offices for Bank of America and a research facility for Smartwires, Inc.
ACWD acknowledges companies that demonstrate efficient water management in its dedicated landscape partnership program. Through this program, ACWD determines water budgets for participating properties, and landscaping companies must work to manage water usage accordingly. To help Crossroads meet its water budget, LMS worked with Kirk Syme, president of Woodstock Development Inc., to replace the property’s regular turf with drought-friendly plant material, following all of ACWD’s standards.
“LMS created a great design and provided seamless execution,” said Syme. “They were extremely hands-on throughout the entire process, and they still are now that the project has been completed. They check back often to see how everything is operating. I’d definitely work with them again on other Woodstock Development properties.”
The execution of the project at Crossroads spanned three phases, and LMS and Woodstock Development had to follow an approved list of requirements for plant material and irrigation design.
“With the ongoing drought in California, LMS has become a sought out landscaping company for practical water management services,” said George Kaiser, president of LMS. “We are thrilled to have received this recognition because it reflects our dedication to providing a sustainable and healthier environment as well as providing above-and-beyond services for our clients.”
