Healthy, well-managed lawns and landscapes are the root of happiness, providing a host of essential benefits for families and communities. For starters, they clean the air, provide a safe place where kids and pets can make memories playing outdoors, and protect us from disease-carrying insects.
To promote the value of healthy lawns and landscapes, and the professionals that take care of them, the National Association of Landscape Professionals’ (NALP) Public Affairs Advisory Council developed a new suite of materials, called the Root of Happiness.
All the materials are available to everyone in the industry – not just NALP members – and NALP wants landscape and lawn care companies to share them far and wide.
The messaging was created by a cross section of landscape and lawn care experts and technical advisors and is based on years of NALP research and research from partners such as RISE (from consumer focus groups) and other sources.
NALP has distilled down the best messages, facts and figures to make the case for the benefits of professionally managed landscapes.
We continue to see battles at the local, state and federal levels where jurisdictions are trying to over-regulate or ban leaf blowers, pesticide and fertilizer use, and are doing so based inaccurate information. These fact sheets and videos are perfect materials to share with anyone from customers to school groups to HOAs to city councils to legislators.
The following materials are available to all and can be downloaded from the NALP website (https://www.landscapeprofessionals.org/nalp/nalp/media/benefits-of-landscapes.aspx):
Guide to Myths and Misperceptions about Landscapes – This useful resource helps readers separate fact from fiction about the industry. Topics covered include the importance of managed landscapes, why weeds are harmful, the truth about pesticides, and more.
Benefits of Healthy Landscapes –This one-page fact sheet addresses the health and environmental benefits of managed landscapes, noting the importance such spaces offer for families, communities, and the environment.
Benefits of Healthy Lawns and Landscapes Infographic – Because pictures often tell a story better than words can, NALP created an infographic that can be easily shared.
Benefits of Healthy Landscapes Video – This short video is another tool to help tell the industry’s story. It addresses the role healthy landscapes play in society.
