The ninth-annual WaterSmart Innovations (WSI) Conference and Exposition is scheduled for Oct. 5 – 7 at the South Point Hotel and Conference Center in Las Vegas.
The full conference registration fee is $395 and includes admission to the WaterSense Partner of the Year Awards luncheon, hosted by the Alliance for Water Efficiency and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense Program, on Oct. 6. WSI will feature more than 100 comprehensive professional sessions and an expo hall showcasing water-efficient products and services. Several pre-show workshops, which are not included with the WSI registration fee, are available on Oct. 4.
Paul R. Brown, who has nearly 40 years of experience in the planning and management of public utilities and environmental facilities, will deliver the opening keynote address on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
As a professional water-resource planner in California, Brown specializes in stakeholder-driven approaches to integrated resource planning. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and a Fellow in the International Water Association, where he chaired the IWA Cities of the Future program committee. Brown also served as a visiting professor at the University of South Florida Patel College of Global Sustainability, where he also was director of applied research. Brown co-authored the book “Water Centric Sustainable Communities.”
In addition, technical tours on Oct. 7, available for a separate fee, will highlight some of southern Nevada’s more prominent water-efficiency practices and water resources.
Since its debut in 2008, WSI has grown into the world’s largest urban water efficiency conference, drawing thousands of participants in a wide range of professional disciplines from 46 states and the District of Columbia, as well as 33 foreign nations.
The Southern Nevada Water Authority is presenting WSI 2016 in partnership with the Alliance for Water Efficiency, American Water Works Association, Audubon International, California Landscape Contractors Association, California Urban Water Conservation Council, the U.S. EPA’s WaterSense Program, Green Plumbers USA, Imagine H2O, International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, International Center for Water Technology, International Code Council, and Irrigation Association.
