If landscapers offer homeowners an annual fixed contract, in contrast to a weekly billed contract, mowing every three weeks to once per month at the most, Blank said that they can now quadruple their customer base by staggering the mowing schedule and getting four times the income, while limiting their loss leader to 75% less cost per customer. Lawn mowers then last 20 years with the same number of customers, or provide 75% more return with four times the customers. Americans spend many billions annually and use between 30% and 60% of the summer drinking water supply on residential and commercial lawns, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Water shortages from your neighbor’s lawn care lead to increased water prices for everyone, water bans, and enforced conservation.
