IA Certification Program reaches 30-year milestone

The Irrigation Association’s Select Certified program celebrates 30 years of recognizing exceptional commitment to efficient water management and irrigation best practices. Since 1983, IA’s well-respected Select Certified program has set the bar for irrigation professionals. Today, the program includes six different credentials that help irrigation professionals establish themselves.

“We’re proud to celebrate this important milestone,” said Mike Temple, chair of IA’s certification board. “For three decades, this program has helped professionals stay current and in-demand.”

With certifications spread across turf, landscape, agriculture and golf disciplines, IA’s certification program also boasts the only national accreditation in the industry, with the certified irrigation contractor program now recognized by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.

“IA certification is more than just initials after your name,” said IA Certification Director Sherrie Schulte. “It’s a way to tell customers, employers and peers that you know how to get the job done right. We’re excited for another 30 years of helping IA-certified professionals stand out.”

In addition, the IACB had recently announced the formation of an entry-level certified irrigation technician program, and is also exploring the creation of an entry-level ag certification program.
