Online training classes for landscape contractors

Horizon Distributors announced its collaboration with The New American Landscape, an online resource for landscape contractors that provides online training modules and instructional videos on topics relevant to the landscape industry. This collaboration allows Horizon to offer its customers The New American Landscape’s online training classes, The Secrets to Exceptional Outdoor Spaces, about designing and creating extraordinary outdoor living environments.

Classes are five weeks long and are available as a design-only class for $199, a construction-only class for $199, or a complete training module consisting of both classes for $349. Early bird registration before March 25, 2011 reduces the cost to $149 per class or $297 for the complete training module. The design class starts at 8:30 p.m. EST on April 19, 2011 and is held every Tuesday through May 24, 2011. The construction class starts at 8:30 p.m. EST on April 21, 2011 and is held every Thursday through May 26, 2011. Each class qualifies for 0.6 continuing education unit (CEU) credits.

“Outdoor living has become an integral part of homes today and the demand for beautiful and functional outdoor living spaces continues to grow. It’s important that landscape contractors elevate their design and construction skills in these spaces so they can meet the expanding needs of clients,” said Phil Stephens, vice president, sales and marketing, Horizon Distributors. “These classes will provide contractors with the knowledge they need to design and build high-quality outdoor living spaces. They also teach contractors how to use that knowledge to increase their service offerings and expand business.”

Each class includes a weekly, live, one-hour, in-depth session taught by J. Gieo Pensoneault, MLA, a landscape architect with more than 20 years of experience. All class materials come from real-world project examples and provide detailed visuals to help demonstrate what is possible with outdoor living spaces.

Classes also include video segments, which are downloadable to a computer or mobile phone, and access to a class forum. Each class is followed by a question and answer session and a take-home assignment. The final video segment of each class includes a bonus landscape business training session led by Judy Guido, founder and principal of Guido & Associates, a professional organization dedicated to helping owners and managers grow people and profits. The focus of this bonus class is building a highly profitable landscape enterprise.

“The outdoor living environment design and construction classes from The New American Landscape are great resources for landscape contractors,” said Stephens. “They give contractors the ability to elevate skills, expand service offerings, increase profits and grow business. We’re excited to work with The New American Landscape to bring these classes to our customers.”

Each class has a limited number of spaces. To learn more about the classes or to register, please visit http://www.thenewamericanlandscape.com/classes/current_class.aspx
